ASG Unveils New Revenue-Based Licensing Model
New Model Offers an Alternative to Capacity-Based Pricing by Tying Software Licenses to Business Success
NAPLES, Fla. on 6 September 2005
ASG, an enterprise software and professional services provider to Global 5000 companies, today announced the launch of Revenue-Based Licensing, providing ASG customers another cost-effective and flexible method for acquiring ASG’s portfolio of more than 200 software solutions.
Revenue-Based Licensing, a component of ASG’s Yes-Based Licensing™, provides an alternative to capacity-based pricing by tying software licensing fees to company revenue, not hardware size or configuration.
ASG Vice President of Sales Operations Jim Bladich said, “With this model, the licensing fees scale to accommodate revenue fluctuations. This makes it particularly attractive to companies who are experiencing exponential growth in computing capacity. In structuring this licensing model, ASG has addressed some key issues expressed by industry analysts. One such issue is future flexibility.”
According to research by Gartner analyst Frank DeSalvo, “Software negotiations are often likely to focus on flexibility as a key issue. This relates to the ability to migrate the use of a software license from one computing platform to another without incremental charges. To the extent that use involves processing, it’s imperative to delineate the usage metric that determines value.”
ASG President and CEO Arthur L. Allen said, “With our Revenue-Based Licensing model, ASG continues to provide flexibility in enterprise software licensing. Customers benefit by having all costs clearly defined during, and at the conclusion of a license term. Tying costs to business performance allows for increased budgeting predictability and cost management, which eliminates unforeseen expenditures and potentially lengthy and costly negotiations.”
Revenue-Based Licensing is available for all ASG-owned solutions and product suites including the Portfolio Access License (PAL) and Enterprise Subscription License (ESL).
This new licensing concept provides a way for enterprises to reduce their cost of acquiring new technology, and replace existing, often more costly solutions.
