New API Enables Application Developers to Integrate Resource Management Capabilities into New or Existing Third-Party Solutions

PeopleCube, the leader in on-demand calendaring, resource and event management solutions, today announced the release of a new API (Application Programming Interface) for Resource Scheduler. This new API for Resource Scheduler, the leading room, resource, and office hoteling management solution enables partners, consultants and system integrators to easily integrate robust resource scheduling capabilities with external applications.

PeopleCube’s Resource Scheduler API is web-services compliant, allowing partners to easily integrate Resource Scheduler’s features into their existing application, making the complete solution more appealing to the general enterprise marketplace. For example, the Resource Scheduler API has been used to integrate Resource Scheduler into SalesForce.com’s CRM application. SalesForce.com customers who sell professional services or similar offerings, for instance, can reserve those services during the sales cycle from directly within the CRM application. Once the sale is made, the reservation data, such as customer name, project start and end date, and required resources, is automatically entered into the SalesForce.com system. Administrators can then run reports that combine information from the SalesForce.com and Resource Scheduler application to improve resource utilization and scheduling.

The new Resource Scheduler API has also been used to integrate resource management capabilities into on-site reservation kiosks in support of an office hoteling (also referred to as hot desking or flexible workspace) environment. Office hoteling allows corporations to reduce real estate costs and use their shared office space more efficiently by enabling mobile workers to book temporary office space on an as-needed basis. By using the Resource Scheduler API, organizations can integrate Resource Scheduler into these reservation kiosks, enabling remote employees and other visitors to quickly and easily search for available workspace and reserve them on-site.

Additionally, the Resource Scheduler API is currently used to integrate Resource Scheduler into display devices such as PolyVision’s RoomWizard. This allows users to leverage these displays to not only view a meeting room’s schedule with times, dates, topics, meeting host, and more, but also reserve the meeting room on the spot based on its availability.
